To glue or not to glue

alright. I haven't been running my skimmer as much lately but I just did a water change and fired it back up again and changed out my filter cartridges about an hour ago (especially since somehow I had aiptasia growing on them with no light on it). I don't have any SPS or LPS yet because I don't have enough lighting on my tank for them. Once I upgrade to my 75g w/2x250w MH then I will prolly start trying to find some awesome looking corals to add.

aiptasia actually makes a great filter.... not even kidding, I'm considering setting up a "raceway" style filter with nothing but aiptasia as particulate filtration, then running the outgoing water through a UV sterilizer to keep the aiptasia in the race way. its still on the drawing board as I want to make sure I calculate the flow through the raceway to be slow enough for the UV sterilizer to kill any aiptasia pieces before returning the water to the display. its an Idea I came across in one of anthony calfo's books.

I know its good for filtration but I don't want it in my DT at all, I spent way too long trying to get rid of it. I only have a HOB filter as of now so I don't want it falling back into the tank. That sounds like a really good idea if you can keep it under control. You will have to let me know how that goes.

Well I was going to get a picture of the coral today to make sure it was a GSP but I cannot seem to find my memory card for it and for some reason when I try to plug it into my computer it turns off and I can't access the photos on it. Well at least I have a reason to try to get a new camera.

I finally got my camera to let me take pics off of it. I still wish I could find my memory stick though....stupid thing can only hold 17 pics without it.
Is this for sure a GSP otherwise what is it? BTW the more the polyps extend the tips are green

This is the coral that the LFS fragged 5 min before selling to me this particular part was hanging off the the rock that the main chunk was on. How do these guys normally stay attached to the rocks? just wrap themselves around it?

they encrust it kind of like zoanthids do, they grow over the rock letting their mat wedge into inconsistecies in the rock to hold them in place. unfortunatly once they have been peeled off the only way to reattach them is to glue them, but they wil;l eventually encrust out onto the rock you glue them too.
