hi i have a 135 gal that i am thinking about setting up as a reef tank. i have an opportunity to buy a light fixture and hood (good looking hood). the fixture includes 3 175w MH's and 2 6 foot actinates. this seems like a lot of light, wondering if it might be overkill. (but not sure, i dont have a lot of experience). also i was hopins someone could give me an idea of how long each of these light might last. thanks for the help

That's not too much light at all. In fact, you would probably need at least 3x250W MH if you were planning an all-SPS or clam tank.
Depending on the color of the MH bulbs, they would need to be replaced anywhere from 8-12 months (high-K bulbs need to be replaced sooner than 6,500K or 10,000K bulbs), and the actinics need replacing every 6-12 months (again, depeding on the type of fluorescent bulb and the ballast).
