To Much Light???

ok when i first got my lr it had purple alge on one of my rocks the rock that is at the top of my tank real close to the top now when i got home today it most of it was white..my tank has not cycled yet could that be why...or mabe other reasons..please help

ur coraline(purple algae) is bleaching(dying). it is normal to have some coraline loss in the beggining if ur tank isnt cycled. btw what kind of lights are u using.

Mine did that too and I placed a small washcloth on the top of the tank to block out some of the light from the purple rock and within a few days the bleaching stopped and now I have green coralline in it's place.. which is a start.

i have a bio cube 14gal 1-24 watt true actinic 03 blue straight pin..1-24 watt 10,000k daylight straight pin...2-.75watt lunar blue-moon led

not bad but im gonna say that it is because of the lack of cycle.
