To run carbon or not to run carbon

I'm a water change Junkie, on my 75g reef I do 10g one week 20g the next back and forth. and sometimes during the week I do a 5g or two change just for giggles. I also dont have a lot of SPS if I did I would consider a calc reactor. I keep calcium and buffer on hand incase anything goes wrong but I almost never use them. I have had the same bottle of calc and buffer for over two years.

What kind of calcium did you or do you occasionally use? What is this purple up?
I guess you are a wc junkie, but I don't think the people at walmart would be happy to see me that often (planning on investing in my own ro unit). I ran the culligan machine dry the other day. You should have seen the looks I was getting.

purple up is the devil... (just watched the water boy last night)
I dont like the stuff. to many ifs about it. plus if you use it on your calcium you have to be sure your Iodine is low too because it contains iodine wich is really easy to OD your tank on. if your Iodine is ok and your calc is low you dose that your iodine goes too high. I like simple one supplement per bottle.

If I were to use that to raise my levels, then drip kalk that should keep it at a consistent level correct? And would I have to constantly drip kalk?
That said, if I were to do a wc would it throw these levels through the roof? I am thinking of switching to tropic marin or io reef crystal salts in the future. I currently use io and I have heard people say that they could never keep their levels where they are suppose to be.

it wont throw your levels through the roof because anything remove is going to be roughly equal in calc reading to what you add if you dripping kalk.
I like Reef Crystals decent salt with out the price tag of tropic marin
