toadstool leather care

I was told to put this leather were water would flow over it well. I have put it where the outlet of my sump will flow on it. When I add top off water to my tank, I pour it directly into the sump. The water I put in is cooler than the tank water. This gives the leather a shot of cool water.
Is this bad for the leather? Does it even matter?

I don't think it will matter much, I put my top off water directly into my tanks and it's always been OK. My toadstool receeds a little for a few minutes after the change, but come right back out. Just keep an eye on it and if he responds badly move him.
