toadstool trouble

I have a 3 year old toadstool that has been great till about 2 and a half weeks ago. it kinda started a week and a half after I installed new 10k halides, its been under 14k's for 3 years but I wanted a color change in the tank and to increase growth, it seems to have 4 holes in the cap about the size of a quarter and is not opening very much, I thought at first it was just the usual molt that it goes thru, I haven't dosed anything and all water parameters are the same as always, also it seems to lets say smoke out of the holes, looks like something bit a hole into it .my camera died so I had to use my cell. any help at all would be great.
Thanks
you can see the holes toward the middle of the cap,top and left

I appreciate the in-site, But its been 3 Years and its NEVER done this,
why would it just decide to do it now ? and why would it be dropping pieces from the center and not the edges like you say yours does ? I mean these holes are almost perfectly round not jagged or anything. once again thanks for your answer any how.

Generally speaking 10K lamps typically emit a LOT more actual light than 14K. It will take weeks for your Coral to adapt to the new lighting.
Holes are also often caused by a change in waterflow. A weakened powerhead or even the growth pattern of the coral itself. Make sure no detritus is being collected on top of the coral.
Other than that, if water parameters are good, especially Alkalinity and Calcium, then it should recover.

Thank You, I kinda was blaming the lighting I switched back to the 14K's for the time being till it recovers. as for flow nothing has changed, the flow keeps it waving and clean. as it always has.

Well it really looks like crap tonight, a ton more of the cap is rotting off.
I moved it to the bottom of the tank and kinda under a little shade from the rocks, increased flow a little to help with the deteriorating cap, trying to keep it clean. might not make it but it still shows signs of life , not soft under the underside and the stem is still firm and attached to the rock very well, it has some polyp extension but not real far, so I guess time will tell,

I had a toadstool and a spagetti leather do this. I cut away the rot and they both recovered fine the spagetti went from 1 to now 4 . Not telling you to do that but i figured it was dying so I would try to save it and I did. Here is a pic of it now its my center pice of my tank and its very large.

thanks STEEL, I also, after looking at it and getting myself sick , pulled it out cut the cap off the stem and also cut it up, I now have 12 , 3 inch by 3 inch
squares, and the stem portion that is 10 inches tall and 3 inches accross , and I have to say after 1 hour in the fuge under moderate lighting and flow they all look so much better, so I guess time will tell now.

Well it's CRAP
, so into the back yard it went, I'm so MAD, 3 years and all was well, then change lights and bam it's dead. I'll never use 10k bulbs over any softie tank again, unless there 30 feet above the water.

Nope, It had it's own special corner office in the tank ,nothing around it at all.
