Someone help me out here....I got a new toadstool early last week. It extended it's "fingers" minimally the first couple of days, got a little longer for a day or so, then they retracted again. It coated over with a shiny protection skin. I turned my powerhead off b/c I thought maybe too much flow and it was had extended fingers again within a couple of hours. It stayed that way for two days and now it has retracted again and has the shiney skin on it again. My levels are fine...pH 8.2, nitrites 0, nitrates 5, ammonia 0. Any suggestions??

i have 7 of them from small to huge. the small ones open almost everyday
but the medium and large seem to be shedding way more often. incidently
that is the shiny coating after they close up, they are shedding. no
worries just keep the water in good condition and they will open when
they are ready.

Thanks....I will stick it out! It doesnt look distressed or anything, just not open. Maybe it will come around soon.

I posted almost the same thing when I got my first one. I followed everyones advice and left it alone and it opened up after a few days. I've had it for a few months and now it's huge.
