Tomato Clown hosting question

Does it take a while for clownfish to distinguish itself as an anemones host? I've had a long tentacle anemone and a tomato clown for a couple days now and it seems like the clown hasn't even looked at the anemone yet. Does it take a while?
Thanks

I just bought a maroon clownfish and he's hosting the long tentacle anemone, but the tomato clown was in the tank before him and wanted nothing to do with it.
