My tomato clowns hosted my gbta as soon as I put it in. Are yours wild or tank-raised?

Green bubble tip anemone. If they are wild they should host easier then tank raised. They will not host a condy, and I doubt a sabae would be hosted either. Tomatos usually host bubble tips or long tentacle anemones.

do clowns generally host anemones more often then lets say frogspawn or something else like that? I have tried to make mine host other things but doesn't seem to be working... BTA I would imagine is your best bet for many clowns... they are pretty cheap (around me anyways) too

Well Colwns are lets say it in a nice way crazy, i have seen them host many things. Like powerheads, rocks, sand, filter intakes, and so on. Clowns will choose for themselfs what they preffer and it is not always a anemone even if one is present. The problem with them hosting LPS is as they mature they tend to be pretty rough on LPS and this normally leads to the demise of the coral. If they host something like a leather or xenia i would not worry as much because they are pretty tough and can not be irratated as easily.

Goes to show you that nothing in saltwater is 100%. Would have been nice to see my clowns host my condy instead of having to fork over the extra money for the bta.

you may get another anemone and it might not work out either. it's a 50/50 chance they will pair up with an anemone...nothing is a definate but you do have a better chance with wild than tank raised.
