i currently am running a 55gal. I have the following:
1 tomato clownfish
1 domino damsel
2 4-stripe damsel
2 blue damsel
The problem is that the tomato clown is chasing everyone in the aquarium like crazy. I bought a tang and he started to chase it until it was stressed out and died on me. What can i do for him to stop this before i get mad and flush him. What kind of fish can i get so that he will stop the chasing. I also heard that if i move my decorations around this might help. Should i do this at night or during the day

I'm surprised you were able to get differnt types of damsels together at separate times as they are very territorial. I move my landscaping when I turn off the light so they won't get too stressed out.

Tomato clowns are very aggressive. If the tomato was the first fish added, it will simply compound the problem. If moving the rocks around doesn't help, net it out and return it to your LFS. The nature of the fish that you have in the tank will simply result in something else taking over and becoming the same type of nuisance. If you are hoping for a community tank, you may want to get everything out before you start to add other non or less aggressive fish.

Perhaps giving the tomato a host will help. But, if it doesn't, please don't flush.

by saying host, what do you mean? Do you mean an anemone? I don't have any special lighting, so can i still get an anemone without it dying on me? I don't have any live rock either. What i did was section off a part of the tank and i put the clown in there, will this make him realize to stop chasing his tankmates or will this just get him more mad?

See if your LFS will trade it for another one. Try putting a mirror on the side of the tank. Maybe he'll be too busy fighting the reflection to bother the others. Just a thought. :D

i can tell what we did with our clown who rules the tank. she too killed a yellow tang, damsels and others.
we wanted more than one fish in the 55gl. so we got another, smaller clown. the bigger clown attacked the smaller one. we moved lr around, put the bigger (mean, older) clown in a bag (the ones the fish come in from the store). kept her in there with the lights off for a few hours. then once we saw she calmed down she was set free, the lights were kept off and the tank was covered with a black sheet to keep all light out.
7 months later the little clown is still alive. the bigger one will pick once in awhile but not enough to really bother it.
ps~we used to have a damsels only tank in a 20 long, they all got along fine.

I had a Tomato clown that I had for about 2mths.and I added a firefish. It was biting it and eventually killed the firefish the next day.I returrned the clown and I currently have a false perc.amd a lemon damsel. It also used to chased the damsel.Take him back. They are very territorial and need lots of space which your tank dosent.take out some of the damsels and return them and if that dosen't work take the clown back.Alex;)
