just set up my tank.. doesnt even have sand or salt in it yet.... but when my skimmer is off.. my main tank clarity is awesome... and when i put the skimmer on.... my main tank just has tiny tiny micro bubbles in the water..... the return pumps them all out continuis..
well.. every1 is telling me the skimmer needs to break in.... 1-2 weeks..... umm it has nothing to skim its just salt water....... so does the break in period start when it actually has something to skim or just running right now with nothing to skim??
i have a great setup and im just upset that everything is going great but my main tank isnt crystal clear... billions of micro bubbles around.
P.S. i dont recall micro bubbles going when my skimmer was on when i didnt have salt in the tank and it was only rodi water... but i could be wrong....but i think it was fine
like what if i put charcoal bag right infront of the mag 18.... so it sucks water through it... will that stop bubbles cause id love to run charcoal in my reef tank all the time.

Can you explain your sump set-up. A bubble box is efficient but you shouldn't need it with that expensive of a skimmer. Are you sure you have it set up right? I can't picture the pump intake on that skimmer right now...getting late. You might need to adjust the water level in the skimmer or check to see if all the fittings are air tight.

u kno what i think it its.. its the water level in return section..... its too high.. thr bubbles just fly through the baffles because water line is over them.... it doesnt fall at all so they just travel.... in both skimmer section and return its like yea.. so ima let the return get about 4" lower than i have it so the skimmer section goes down and where the waterfall goes to return so bubbles break in air on way down and ill let u kno how it is..

I was going to say that but I had no idea how to word it. I'm not sure if anyone else understood that but you have the right idea. Let us know if it works.
