Too early?

Hi, my tank has been up for almost 5 weeks and I was wondering what I could get to help with my algae blooms. It's not too bad, some algae is starting to build up on the glass, but the worst is on the sand bed. It's all turned brown. Yuk!
I have 6 turbo snails, a pyramid snail, about 15 or 16 blue legs, and 2 scarlets. Its a 25g. The water tests look good. I've been to the LFS and they say I should wait to get a shrimp or starfish to help clean. I don't know what to do? Is it too early still to get any of these? Any ideas appreciated.

I would get a couple more Mexican turbo snails, but as far as the shrimp or sea stars, I would also recommend to wait.
