My Marineland Penguin 200 BIO-Wheel Power Filter is waaaaaaaay too loud for anyone to take. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and how can it be fixed because I really can't take this noise anymore mainly bc of my tank being in my bedroom. Please get back to me. Thanks

Yeah it's just like this vibrating noise...It's happened since I got the thing but I've had it haha. I just need to know how to make it stop because i can't even sleep in my own room with the thing on.

Try messing with the magnetic drive unit. Sometimes they come out a little ways and vibrate. See if it's completely seated in there. Shouldn't be that loud.
That said, I had a penguin 170 and it would never shut up!

Try listening to water being sucked down in the overflow box!!! Talking about loud noise...Good thing I run a fan to sleep all night, that takes care of the noise....

I had the smae thing as you but a 400. All I did was keep un-plugging the power cord and plugging it back in. I did that untill it got quite for me. Sounds dumb but it worked for me.

It's not an overflow it's a Power Filter.

Is it against the wall? I just set mine up a week ago and was as loudy as anything but then I moved it off the wall a bit and now it's not nearly as loud as before. Now it's the protein skimmer that kepps me awake
.

I just figured it out, I lifted the tube slightly and the vibrating noise disappeared (or atleast 3/4's as much) Now the noise is very reasonable (finally slept last night!) and now everything seems to be ok. I've had the thing for a while now and it kept making that noise on and off I thank you all for some input for this newbie.

I had those types of filters way back a long time ago. I could not Stand them!
My new aquarium (I just setup) has Fluval404 Canister Filter. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
My aquarium is as quiet as a mouse.

Yeah my protein skimmer makes noise, but not a vibrating noise just the swirl of the water....not as annoying. I'm going to purchase a new form of filtration after this semester when I start working again.
