too much coraline algae, help!

Hi, I'm converting my 75g into a FO from a reef tank. However, I cannot seem to stop purple coraline algae from growing. I know that my calcium level is very low because I haven't cared about it for about few months now but algae keeps growing.
I would like a clean glasswall and it's impossible with these algae because they are so hard to scrape off. Any suggestions on getting rid of them?

Porcupinepuffer... I hate you, I wish I had your problem. You might be able to use a razor blade, but I think I recall people saying that the metal in the razor puts bad chemicals in the tank. See what some others have to say. :D

I always use a metal razor blade and never have problems. Make sure the razor blade is clean new and rustfree.
Don't leave it in the tank when done and wash it and dry it to keep rust from forming.

Haha, I'm sorry Kev :D I wish I could give some to you!!! It would be very cool if they were like stickers... just imagine, coraline algae stickers :)
Salisbury AD: razor blade will not make scratch marks on my glass wall?

Kent makes an awsome scraper. I use it on my tank. Has a stainles steel blade that works very well. The handle is long so you don't have to get your hands wet.

Be very careful with the blade and you shouldn't have any scratches. I have a bow front and if you do too run the blade with the curve. I have more scratches from positioning live rock than from the razor blade.

lol, same here. Only scratches I have on my glass are from rockparticles getting stuck under a magnetic algae scraper.. or from moving rocks.
thans for the suggestions everybody. :D
