too much current for cleaner shrimp?

are cleaner shrimp generally scared to come out if in swift current? i've had mine a week and it stays behind the rocks in the same corner of the tank mostly, and i was wondering if maybe i have too much current or something? i do have alot for a 20g. anybody elses done this? he's pretty small too. i think i did see a shimp molt earlier. any clues?
i am also almost convinced i have a pistol shrimp, at least one, cause i've heard the popping sounds since i added more live rock and the shrimp. is a pistol shrimp a danger?

I don't have much current, but my shrimp took 2 days before it came out. Now it's all over the place. I only feed in the morning and when I do he comes out, climbs the tank and kinda walks on the water upside down to eat at the top of the tank. He is quite active.
