too much flow?

Quick question. 20 gallons with Penguin 125 (125gph), Prizm skimmer (mostly closed), and Rio 600 power head (200gph). Too much for this little reef? It just seems like a lot in there. Do I need to worry about what corals I get and where in the-line-of-flow I put them?

how much is the prizm? i would say that that isnt bad, but it depends what you keep. in my 30 breeder i have 2-300 gph powerheads, a 300 gph filter, a 300 gph skimmer (i think its 300 gph, with the air its probably more like 100-150), and a 50 gph powerhead.

I would say the skimmer is a pretty low flow addition because it's new, and the tank is new, so the flow valve is mostly closed to reduce fractation bubbles in the tank (I'm still getting okay skimmate, though it's a little wet). So total, I would say that I have about 350-400gph. The Rio PH is open full bore, and I'm planning on mostly soft coral. Do I need to make any special considerations about coral placement with that Rio 600 blasting along the back of the tank on top of the LR?

well on my 30 gallon I have one Hagen 270gph high angled, two mini jet 104gph's (one down low firing foward and one up high firing straight across the tank), one skilter 250 with skimmer off and no filter media (just passing water) and seaclone 100 with maxi-jet 1200 (although low circulation). I'm still thinking about one more mini jet down low to take care of a dead spot. I dont think I'm anywhere near too much flow as is. adequate at best. not based on GPH but based on the actual currents I feel/observe in the tank.

Thanks Fishieness, I'm just planning on shrooms, zoos, colt/tree, maybe some xenia, and some day maybe some frog spawn or another sweet, easy LPS. Wow, thanks Stanlalee, that sounds like a TON of flow. How do you "feel" if there is enough circulation? I'm just observing some of the little algae spots and micro bubbles etc. flowing through the tank and it looks like there's a lot of flow and circulation. There doesn't appear to be any place where there isn't water movement. I have a little over 15gph/gallon, which I read/heard is enough, I was actually worried about having too much, but you're saying that it may not be enough. Is there such a thing as too much? How do I know?
