Too much flow?

Rule of thumb for flow is aobut 10x but your flow is good enough reefs need about 20x the flow of the tank size for EX:60 gallon tank will need 600 gph for FOWLR for reef Approxamitley 1200 gph, more flow the better but dont overkill it like putting in 30x overflow unless you have tons of live rock and coral that need it lol

You may be pushing the water a little too much, seeing as how you are sitting at 33 times the turnover. If this is an SPS tank, you are fine. However, in most tanks, this may be a bit much.
How do you have 900 gph coming from your return, though? Do you have a built in overflow or external? Most only handle between 600-800 gph.

My tank is drilled with a 1.5" bulkhead and I will be building an overflow for it also. I have a quiet one 4000 but I'll only have about a 2 ft head on it. I could be wrong about the 900 though.

Oh okay. The 1.5" bulkhead drain would explain. Standard is a 1" bulkhead drain, which only gives a max of 800 gph.
