too much weight for my tank stand

Howdy, I have a 125 gallon tank sitting on one of those standard wooden stands. I bought the stand with the tank as a complete set so I know the stand is designed to carry the weight of the tank but I recently added a refugium under my tank. It sits in the cabinet on the bottom shelf. My refugium is a 18 gallon rubbermaid plastic container. It has 60 pounds of sand in it and 10 pounds of live rock. I just noticed that the bottom board inside my cabinet is now bowing. Should I be concerned or is this normal when adding a sump or refugium under the tank? Thanks for the info.

I'd be worried...
You sure don't want your tank falling on your floor in the middle of the night.....

You should look into bracing that lower shelf. It is obviously not inteneded to carry that much weight. You will have to take out the tub, lift the bord, and put something between the floor and that shelf to carry the weight.(a brick, two by four,or something similar)

Cut some thick blocks of wood that will act as pillars for your bottom shelf. If you cut them to the perfect height you don't need to attach, maybe woodglue at the most.

If so I would reinforce your stand, I do not know what it looks like. Here are some ideas, a 1x2 or 2x4 running along the lower back from one leg to the other, this should be done to prevent the pressure of the legs that may be bowing in. This could also be done on the front if you can do it without blocking your shelve. Do something real soon, it could cost you a ton if it all went down. <img src="graemlins//uhuh.gif" border="0" alt="[U-Huh]" />
