too stressed??????

Ok here's the deal, I have a coral beauty (lg) and recently had to remove my picasso trigger that had been alone in the tank for too long and now kills everything I try to add. So when I returned him I got a porc. puffer the lfs had just received him the day before I brought him home. The puffer hovered awhile but then sank to the bottom lifelessly and has stayed there since with his tail curled in and all his fins are to his side, his eyes look good and he is breathing normal, I called the lfs they said it was due to stress(he also puffed as soon as we left the store and went back down immed.) also my coral beauty was already stressed from the trigger & he is losing his color but the 2 have not bothered each other that I have seen. Also I tested the water everything is right where it should be, apparently they are stressed so what can I do to help them out & could this kill them? Thanks!!

it sounds like you just need to be patient, give them time to readjust, feed them good food, and keep from making any changes to the tankmate situation for awhile.
If you notice erratic behavior, scratching, heavy breathing or any noticeable markings on the body (wounds, parasites, infections) then you can take action.
good luck

The coral beauty had a small white place when I bought him, the lfs rubbed on it and said it is just a missing scale so I brought him home, the next day it was bigger then he broke out in ich, I treated w/copper it went away but where the original white place was it like a scar or lesion maybe now I have noticed a few more places that you can only see in certain light it looks more like a fungus or film rather than ich. Should I go ahead & treat for fungus? Also his color is really looking bad, I know he was stressed from the trigger then now his new tank mate but the puffer has not even noticed him yet could he be that stressed or is it more? thanks!!

you should post this in the disease forum, it sounds like maybe you have some kind of secondary infection which probably should be treated in a q-tank.
best of luck
oh, and never ever buy fish that are damaged unless they are a very hardy variety, eels and groupers for example, but even then you are only asking for trouble. Healthy specimens always come along eventually if you are patient.
