i was wondering how u guys top off your tanks?i usually just add water every few days but i was thinking about hooking up a pump to a bucket and was wondering if any1 else does this.cuz with a chemical pump with a max output of less than 30 gal a day with some math and adjustments u could cut it down to around 1 gal a day
max pump output X speed X stroke of pump
30 X1.0X1.0=30
30 X.20 X.20=1.20 gal per day
if it doesent have a speed control just skip that step but it wont go as low with 1
anyhow i just was wondering how many people do this??cuz i know i cant be the first

I used a float for a while which will keep your water at any level - like a toliet float but on a smaller scale. stopped using mine out of fear might get stuck and over flow.
thought of using 2 floats for safety - one at your desired level then a second float at a higher level incase first one malfunctions to shut of pump
still in works of how to relay wires and floats together

in my trade a overflow is a disaster, steam travels at 10,000 feet a sec and a slug of water will blow the corner off of steam lines so we cant ever have high water:)

Try a Liter Meter from spectra pure. I am very happy w/ mine. Just calibrate it, figure out about how much top off you need daily, hook it up to a jug/tub of fresh ro/di and it does the job for you. You can adjust it accordingly if it is putting in too much or too little. Comes with it's own float switch. It is a little expensive, but IMO very reliable.

Yeah, looked at the liter meter and um.....its $250. I think I can live with adding water on my own :) Tsunami makes a unit for around $50. They have one that can turn pumps on when the water level drops to low and one that can turn a pump off when the water level drops to low. I don't have one personally, but I think you would be safe if running a pair.

i don't know about all those float meters and stuff. seems like alot of money involved in that. i have a food grade 5 gallon plastic container that holds my kalk mixture. it has a ball valve on the container and is attached to a drip valve attached to my sump. it takes a few days to get the drip right to maintain my desired level in my sump, but it works for me :)

they make floats alot smaller so u might find 1 that would be less of an eye sore..look in granger or mcmaster/carr they sell industrial supplys iv seen floats that are as small as a pencil that sits hor.when the (pencil like) float falls to vertical its starts the system
