How offen do you top off your water? I seem to have to top off 2 times a week my temps are always at 80-81. Just wondering what everyone is doing. My tank is 55 gal with a fuge of 20 gal a great skimmer,120 of lr, 130 sand and 260 pc light. thanks greg

It has a lot to do with duration of the photo period of the lights, ambient temp, lights on the fuge, lights on the display. Just remember to mark a "reminder" on the tank itself and keep the water line there. Your fish and corals will thank you.

i lose approx. 2 gallons a day! ... i thought this was a lot, what is avg. for the 120+ tanks? anyone?

125 AGA dual overflow, 260w pc lights 10k+actinic-14 hrs, 400watt 20k MH-8hrs, 90w pc over fuge area in sump(40gallon)-24hrs/7days-week
note: I've tried the pc's at 12 and 10 hr photo periods with no change. I have them on for that long so we can enjoy the tank in early morns.

I top off daily. I lose about 1/4" to 1/2" of water to evaporation in the winter and about 1" in the summer.
Make sure you top off daily, especially if you have your skimmer on the main display tank. A skimmer is severely hampered by fluctuating water levels.

I cannot advocate this idea more highly. A reminder mark is what I use.

generally my tank doesnt lose water but my wet/dry is constantly lowering in volume in it. i generally have to put a gallon a day into it with a 75 gal at 78ish degrees.
