Torch & Frogspawn Compatibility

I posted this under my tank thread, but I figured I would post here as well. I was under the impression that since the torch and frogspawn were in the same family it wouldn't matter if they were close or not. Well, I just turned on my lights and my frogspawn and torch were stinging each other. I separated them and moved the frogspawn further away. Here are pictures. What can I do to help besides time?

Keep them FAR away from each other. You'd be amazed how long their tentacles can become, especially when near members of the same family. I've seen my torch extend almost 10" to reach another coral and sting it. My favia is the worst, you wouldn't expect to see the long tentacles that come out of that thing!
If it was only a day or two, it should be able to recover, just keep them away from one another. You could try to help it by attempting to feed it, but I don't know if that will actually "help" or just makes us feel better, I haven't decided yet.

I am certainly confused. I read do it and I read dont do it? Is this one of those things that just works sometimes? The Local Fish Store has FS with Hammers touching. He also has a torch in the tank and I think its touching hammers as well. Is it that the torch and FS cant touch? Very confused.

It is certainly confusing. I have seen many tanks with torches and FS touching. I may try to feed it later tonight. BTLD that's crazy, I couldn't imagine my torch stretching that far. It didn't sting it long, I had checked the tank probably 15 minutes before I turned it on and they weren't touching. mike, I am just as confused as you.

I know! But honestly, every time I put my FS, Hammer and Torch near each other, they sting one another.
Actually with my torch, I have to keep it away from everything because it will sting anything it can get it's tentacles on, it fried my trumpet coral in one night!

This is why I love this hobby. Everything is absolute except for the fact that there is no absolute in this hobby absolutely. Us newbs just have to learn.

Dont let them touch and note that depending on flow some of those tentacles can get pretty long.
