Well as some of you know I am setting up a 65 gallon tank with a sump, in the next couple of days I will be ready to start adding water. Now I am torn wether to start another SW tank - I love my reef tank I watch it more than TV these days, I alsways wanted horses - now I have a chance to set up a beautiful tank 65 gallon 36" x 28" x 24H. I have ben reading alot about horses and the thing that has me worried is feeding them. i do travel with work a lot usaully my trips are from 5 to 7 days. My 9 year old does a great job of feeding the reef and all of our other tanks. Horses as I understand need to be feed 3 times a day or a least twice. I just can't see someone else tanking care of this. What are the experts thoughts on this.

Yeah yeah yeah, horses need to be fed X amount of times per day. Anthias need to be fed X amount of times per day.
I call BS on this feeding X amount of times per day myself. Who of us in the hobby does this unless you have automated feeders, are home most of the day to do it etc. etc. etc.
I would not let the feeding thing scare you off of horses, especially with a tank than size and a sumpfuge to keep a good supply of pods going. As a matter of fact think about where horses live, in the shallows amongst the............wait for it.................sea grasses. You can have the best of both of your ideas. Oh wait............pods love to hide in the algaegrasses too!!

Just me, but I feed two cubes once a day, but ya if you travel a lot, you may not want horses.

I guess what threw me off was the shelves I saw with the mysis shrimp in it. My son could handle feeding them frozen cubes when I am not there, also the copepods would be there since I will have a fuge. I have to think about this a bit more, thanks for your replies everyone.

LOL...I'm a worrier....yes Henry.....I admit it....and sadly I have NO ONE to feed my tanks if I am not here
I forget sometimes that some people actually have help.....LOL....It's not hard to toss a cube in the tank...if you think your son could do it....well....then think some more about it

I think a sea horses would look beautiful in this tank, a nice tall rock structure in the middle, black sand - sea grass - I cane see it already. Does anyone know of some good articles to read up on horses. I have read the ones on this forum. Thanks for now - maybe Flower and I should have a combined thread, what do you think Flower. LOL
