Salt: (depends on how much you buy)
Clean up crew and fish: (again depends, but around 100$)
If you want corals: (depends on what you buy)
Refractometer: 40$
Test stips: 40$
Total: Around 1,000$
If need a stand there is another 100$, and more koney if your going with a sump.

$75 for 25lbs of super premium figi live rock.
$30 for a cleanup crew (25 snails)
$50 worth of live stock(3-4 small fish)
$150 worth of coral.(5-10 good frags)
$100 for mantiance supplies (salt,test kits, etc.)
$630 for the whole thing to get it all started.
$10 a week for mantiance.
This is the actual price for everything.(i know where you can get all this online and this all includes shipping, sorry but i cant tell you the sites.)

I'd say the grand estimates are about right. By the time you stock it, etc. Of course a lot less if you already have another tank as lots of the maintenance equipment and such that you'll need you'd already have.
I've probably got a grand tied up in equipment on mine, including substrate and live rock but I don't know how much in coral as I used frags off my main system to stock it.
