I want opinions of everyone concerning glass tops? On or off? What do you guys think it effects? Are there easy ways to keep the lights and reflectors clean with no top? You get my drift.

I had my glass top on at first and could not maintain a temp under 86 degrees with the lights on. It actually went from 80 - 88 degrees during the day. I cooked my first turbo snails! Topless, I keep my tank at 80 degrees with no problem.

top off but some sort of guard to keep the fish from being a fish sandwich.

top on. i would like to get rid of it but the hood that i have is one of those hamilton hoods that are all ready to just be placed on top of the tank. well i guess i could hang it above the tank but i havent even thought of that. My glass does get filthy tho, and so does the plexy glass in the hood! not a very nice combo

Top off. Had glass tops on for a while with my PC lighting. Switched to a streamlined Aquastarlight with MH's that hangs from the ceiling. No canopy either. Love looking down into the tank!

I have narrow sections of glass just a bit wider than the light fixture.
There are gaps in the front and back to keep air moving.

Top on. I see too much water evap with the glass top off. I have yet to implement a freshwater auto-top-off solution.
