trace elements will be replenished through regular waterchanges. many people here dose a two part additive to keep alk, ph, and calcium balanced.

Depending on your calcium and alkalinity users in your tank yes you will need to add buffers and calcium into a REEF tank.
As was said if you are doing regular water changes than you will not have to spend all that money on a bottle of trace elements, this includes iodine, IMO,IME.
