It's my understanding that regular water changes should replenish these trace elements. For good measure, I'm also mixing a small amount of Kent's Osmosis-prep into all water I change into the system.
Instead of keeping the skimmer on all the time, I have a timer which turn it off after 12 hours of running everyday. Just something I started doing recently as more and more coral popping up
I haven't seen anything to worry about
