Trading in a Fish?

If I trade in 3 blue green damsels can I get 1 nicer fish?
I have the following in my 46:
Maroon clown
Engineer Goby
Diamond Goby
Pajama Cardinal
and the 3 Damsels
My concern is if I am maxed out on fish. So if I get the 3 damsels out can I add a nicer fish? I would love to get the Pajama and the Engineer out but I can't grab them.

You will have just as hard of a time catching the Damsels as you would the other ones.
Where would you be trying to exchange fish?

As long as the fish is small. Also depending on if you CAN catch them. They are the hardest to catch in my opinion.
After taking out the Damsels stay under 3" for the maximum sixe. The smaller the fish the more you can have.

I don't think that's true at all.
The more fish you have, the more waste that is produced.
Also, I could definately understand why someone would want to rid of Damsels, they get to be quite the little devils.

They, the damsels, are the least aggressive fish in my tank. Actually they are easy to catch for some reason, they hang around the net when I put it in. Don't ask me why. I caught the Engineer the other day and got out of the net because of a small hole in it. Yes I got a new one.
