I have a small rock full of Purple Shrooms, I was wondering how to move them on to another piece of live rock, because i have to give the small rock back to a friend..

you might have to give him another rock. You can cut them off the rock but you are at risk of killing some. I had a roch that got flipped over on the shroom and it detached itself from the roch to breath again. I think if you make the shroom uncomfortable on the rock they should detach by themselves. otherwise just give him another rock from your tank...

Well, Im holding the rock for him while he sets up a nano tank, so I can't just give him a different rock.
I've transplanted coral is it the same concept...

well when I frag a shroom I usually just cut them in half. I have cut them off a rock before, but if you don't get all of the foot it will grow back again. this is just what I have experianced with fraging shrooms.

take another rock and set it so its practically onbeside the shroom blocking its light and it will move up ward and stick to the rock then just pull apart the rocks whatever is stuck to the rock usually grows into a new shroom, this method has about a 90% success rate for me. the shroom you tear will shock and look bad for a while but mine always recover, I would reccomend cutting them with a razor or scalple since its your friends rock. plus clean cuts heal better than tears do. I'm sure some one else here has fragged them,.. LOL usually they frag them selves like rabbits.

You can try aiming a power head at them, sometimes they move due to not being happy with all that much flow.
