Ok i'll try not to make this too long. This is how i moved my 55 with rock fish sand and inverts.....
Step 1
I caught as many fish and inverts as i could and put them in 1 gallon zip locks.
step 2
I first got barrels and lined them with plastic bags. Filled then with as much water as 2 men can carry. When the water level was close to the rocks i quickly put the rock from the tank into the barrels so there wasn't much die off due to coming in contact with the air.
step 3
Once i got most of the rock out i got the rest of the animals i had missed.
step 4
i got the rest of the water out making sure that none of my LR was touching the air.
step 5
I left the sand in the tank threw everything into the van and went....
Seting back up heh....
step 1
first i set up the tank making sure it was level all around
step 2
Start pouring the water in the tank( pour as damn slow as you can possibly handle because there's gonna be a sand storm) until i could get some live rock in then poured more water into the tank.
step 3
AS SOON AS YOU CAN make sure that you get your heater going cause depending on where you live and the weather your temp is going to go down. and you need to get it back up as soon as possible.
Step 4
Get all the water in and put your bags with the live stuff in to the tank to float until your filters can clean up some of the sand storm that is almost impossible not to make.
step 5
When my water temp went back up i put in everything except my fish then my fish and then my eel.
other points.
Age some salt water before you move because there's no way all your water will be saved during this horrible time taking procedure.
Try to build your rocks back up to the way you like them before you put the fish in. There already gonna be stressed out so they don't need there home to be moving all over the place and changing
and the last thing i got is Watch them very closely a few days after the move. They will most likely be stressed and there imune system may be weaker than normal.
Good Luck
