my blue hippo after a very long time now have ick , i remove my 6" hippo to leave him alone . but i feeding my tank more than usual because of my anthias and my cleaner shrimp and my fireshrimp stop cleaning the parasite of my fish i hold the feeding yesterday and i am thinking of holding the feeding again tomorrow. my cleaner shrimp used to be very dependable. i can remove all of my fish out of the tank or can catch the hippo without tearing down my 225 g mixed sps tank . any suggestion? the hippo is eating very well and just have spot . and i don't have any qt anymore sold it 2 weeks ago cause my tank is very stable for almost 2 years now .

i've seen the testimony but sps are very delicate , i don't want my acro to brown up and even bleached.. i think if the ick start to really bother the hippo it will go to the shunk or fire shrimp. should i get more cleaners?

most people with large sps tanks just try and feed the fish garlic and keep them healthy by feeding a variety of food. by doing this you bump up there immune system and they may be able to fight it on their own.
if not, you'll have to remove the fish and do hyposalinity in another tank.
i would never add any meds to my sps tank. even if it says reef safe. ive got to much money invested to just start pouring some cheap snake oil into it.

i will keep feeding it often and i am really hoping if the hippo get really bad it would go to the cleaners shrimps

there is no guarantee they will fight it off themselves. they usually can only fight off mild cases, so if the fish are seriously infected, your going to have to remove and treat all fish. not just the hippo.

start running a large UV with low flow through it, it WILL help, in fact alot of people have cured thier problem all together. anyone that says it doesn't help or work, has either never used one, or used one the wrong way it is for sure a piece of equipment you should have on hand. i run my 24/7.

i doesn't work it only kills free floating oraganism not the one attach to the fish. i have 36 watts uv before run it with low flow and nothing . hyposalinity works the best for me b4 but its easy to do in folwr not mixed sps reef . thanks for the suggestion though.

Some people say every tank has ich and healthy fish just don't get it.
I would think though you are going to have to do more than just a cleaner shrimp.

the tank has been healthy for the past 2 years no ick or any problem. the sps are going really well and im hoping the tank will solve itself, i've seen some spot if parasite before but never really pay attention to it because the next day the spot will be gone before i worry about it. but this time is been 3 days i think im feeding the tank to much and the cleaners and fire shimp don't want to clean because they are full. i am just hoping that i don't have to break my tank and qt all my fish because i need at least 125 gallon qt to house all my fish .
