Treating odinium

Im almost positive one of my domino damsels has odinium. All the symptoms match, and after all the reading Ive done, Im sure thats what it is. We are treating the fish, and we shall see what happens. Here is my question... I read that keeping the lights off for a few days and raising the temp. of the tank will help kill it off in the tank. Will raising the temp and keeping the lights off hurt my red leg hermits and turbo snails?

You will need to treat Oodinium with a copper treatment in a Qt. What are you using to treat it with now?

You should treat it immediately. Oodinium can kill rather quickly.
Keeping the lights off and turning the temp up will do nothing at all to effect the lifecycle of the parasite.

cowboy, please provide info on what symptoms your fish is experiencing, and what you are using to treat it.
Copper is the most common treatment, and it can not be used in tank. Also, other fish diseases may look like oodinium, but isn't.

In case that this was oodinium, you need to either leave the QT without fish for 2 mos, or break it down completely and sanitize it.
Glad to have you on the forums, but sorry for the occasion that brings you here.
