Tree Sponge

I purchased a orange tree sponge on the auction site. When I recived it the water it was in was orangeish red. I took the sponge put underwater. It is a faded out orange brown color with white fuzz on it. I dont know much about sponges and I cant find much info on them. I want to send it back but I want some info to make sure im not making a mistake. Thanks

Dont know much about sponges, but what I do know is that they cannot tolerate being out of water even for a couple of seconds. They must always be submerged.
