Triggers will eat hermits, snails, crabs, shrimp.
Lions will eat just about anything except snails or hermits.

probably not. I know both of my lions would definitely eat them...

My trigger (niger) doesn't bother snails, crabs, shrimp or anything else....well he does like to chase damsels...but doesn't actually nip. I think the key is to buy a young one and already have the inverts in the tank while he gets used to it. Mine seems to have learned that "WE" feed him (no need to hunt).....OH and he goes STUPID CRAZY when we even get close to the tank with food!!! It's hilarious!!
ps they're sloppy eaters so filter feeders will get plenty of "leftovers"

I wouldn't trust my Humu Humu Trigger with any of those!!!! He doesn't seem to bother the large hermit he's living with though, I definatelly wouldn't trust him with any small fish. I feed him feeder fish as a treat every so often. He tears them up in no time. The last time I fed it to him, he took the head off of the fish within a sec when I drop the fish in there. :happyfish

I really like the pink tail and the bursa, do you think if i got a really small one he would get along with my shrimp and crab? And i think its mean to feed live fish to your trigger, unless the fish is ugly, then i dont care! But i dont like to keep small fish because i lose them for like a week then they pop up and i lose them again.

i had a blue throat trigger and v. lion fish together and they got along but one day the opposite happened and the trigger swam straight into the lion and was stung and died within 30 seconds or so. The blue throat are pretty docile like the nigers but the rest of the trigger family I wouldnt trust with a lion.

i have decided not to get a trigger at all!
Although i like them alot they are just to agressive for me so im going to get a dwarf zebra lion. Is this ok?

Excellent decison on not getting the trigger and getting a lion. Just make sure you see it eat something at the LFS before you buy it. If they feed it ghost shrimp, that is fine. Just don't let them feed it a freshwater feeder for you (goldfish, rosie red, guppy).
