Trigger

I just purchased a Huma HUma Trigger from swf and was wanting to also get a Niger Trigger. I have a 55gal tank and was wondering if these two fish could be put together in my tank?

Keeping a picasso and a niger together can work. I think they have the best chance when they both start out small together, with perhaps the niger a bit bigger. How they act when the get older is a toss-up.
But, I think a 55 would be a bit tight for both of them. Two 8-10" aggressive fish in 4' of space might be playing with fire.
Good Luck!

Well I am thinking of getting a bigger tank later anyway. Before either one of them got too big. Would it work then?

I have a 6-8 inch Niger in with a 8-10 inch Humu... and things seem fine so far. I also have a 125 gallon tank, so they aren't exactly on top of each other. I don't think a 55 is going to be big enough. Even as they are small, they creat a pretty big mess when they eat, and in such a small tank it may be hard to control your levels. GrouperHead even mentioned I might have too much of a load on my tank, and I only have 2 other big fish in that. ( and a few little ones). You may want to see what kind of filtration you are going to be putting on there first. Also, if you don't end up getting a bigger tank, it would SUCK to have to let your babies go. ..... my 2 cents

If you were to introduce a niger into your tank with a huma huma, i suggest moving the rock around and turning off the light when you first put the niger in.

if you have a specimen living in a tank with the same rock arrangement he will get to know this as his home, and he will become territorial because he thinks he owns the place. If you change the rock arrangement he will not recognize the environment and will not have the territorial aggression if you introduce a new specimen.
