I am planning on having a 75 gallon FOWLR tank, and I was wondering if there are any triggerfish that would be happy in 75 gallons? or maybe any Tangs.......thanks

Blue throat trigger tend to stay on the small side, and would probably be fine. You could probably get away with a kole or yellow tang as well. The other option would be a Huma, but I would leave him as the only fish in the tank, and he may eventually need a little bigger tank.

I second the blue throat. I have one in mine, nice trigger. They do get big though. Humu's are nice, but may need a bigger tank years down the road...
A small niger trigger would be a nice addition.

Thanks, So I probably wouldnt need to put them in a larger tank for a year or so? and are Nigers the ones that change color? I really like the Humu Trigger but if its gonna get too big I wont mess with one till i have a bigger tank....but thanks

75 should be big enough to put a clown trigger in. Just start him off small and let him grow.. He'll prob grow up to 7-8 inches in that size tank depending on how many fish you keep in it. Mines grew almost 2 inches in 6 months!!:happyfish

15"... Wow, how did you manage that? Our's only got about 10" after being in a 2200 gallon tank for 4 years. Are there some type of steroids that I am not aware of?

hahahaha, I don't think a 75 is a bad environment for a trigger, they adapt very well to aquarium life, with that said I would still suggest one of the smaller species, Blue throat, Starry, White tip...
good luck :joy:

I agree that they can get that big, but the only ones I have seen that large are straight from the ocean. The biggest I have seen them get being raised from a smaller size in an aquarium is around 10"... but that is just my personal experience. But I agree that a 75 will not house a clown trigger for a very long time. I have found that fish grow much slower when they are kept in a smaller tank however.

Thanks everyone, I really like Triggers, probably my favorite fish. If I can I think I will try and get a bigger tank maybe 100 gallons, I just dont know if I have the room. Thanks:happyfish
