When caulerpa gets out of hand, you are supposed to "trim it back". However, "take care not to break off their interconnecting strands." I have never been really clear on how to trim my caulerpa without hurting it. I had a huge beautiful piece once and tried to move half of it to another tank. After I cut it in two, both sections died.
