I think I have my first chemical warfare problem, I think. Just added a few very small frags that I got from a guy at work, they appear to be star polyps, I KNOW there helthy hes been a coral only guy for quite some time, and they do look good but the heck happend to my zenia? My 2 other polyps and mushrooms are fine? It seems to be getting worse by the second. What do I do?
My only other addition was a Royal Gramma from yesterday who is also doing well, but he isnt disturbing it.

It was weird had it for about 2 months, I checked on the new arival (royal gramma) after the lights came on, it was fine. I then sat on the couch by the tank watching tv, I fell asleep, woke up and it was like this, and it just keeps getting worse.

Well, I am not kidding, there is almost NOTHING left of it, I dont know where its going but its about gone, I put a bag of carbon in front of a PH about 30minutes ago so I guess we will see what happens, but im betting there wont be anything left of it in an hour or two.

Hmm, mines been in clean water since day 1, and its been growing like a weed until a few hours ago. Current status: its completely fallen over, none of its "hands" are open, and there shrunk pretty much down to nothing.
But upon just looking, all of my new polyps are completely closed, kinda scares me, fish seem to be fine, but my shrimp is hiding, ill be doing a larger water change tomorrow, just in case.
Any input is greatly appreciated ! I am a coral n00b!

Alkalinity,Calcium..tank size...SG...last water change....most likely a water quality issue..however sometimes these things just happen....

I'm going to follow this thread as the same thing happened to mine silver branch xenia 2 months ago and it hasn't recovered since. I tried it in my 75 and it basically hated it there. My water params are like yours with the exception that my temp is in 81-82. The xenia loved staying in my 55 with little less optimum water and then one day it just didn't like being with me any longer. I'm giving it away next weekend at our club meet.

Well the tank is a 50B.
Aqua c remora skimmer, 3 ph's, with t5's.
Last water change was last thursday, about 8 gallons, I try to do about 8 gallons once a week.
SG is 1.026 where its always been.
I dont have the alk or the ca test right now, I had a ca test but it started to give weird results, I noticed it was outdated so I pitched it.
I has to be something water related, but ill be darned if I know what it is. Like I said, fish are fine but my new polyps are all of the sudden closed along with a few exsisting. But I just lost the lights so anymore observation will have to wait till morning.

Just to update, currently its "arms" are all streched out and its "hands" are all open, but the "body" is still weird looking and very very small.

At least its not just you. I can't keep xenia no matter what I try. All my water parameters are optimal and all other various corals strive in my tank, but any time I've added xenia or kenya, they've melted away within hours to days. Never could figure out what.
