Trouble keeping tank clean

Ive been noticing that Ive got a good amount of detritus lying around my rocks, and was wondering how I could reduce it. I do 20% water changes every two weeks, have a good clean up crew (I think) and have a remora skimmer. But for some reason I cant keep the excess waste down. :notsure:

how much water movement do you have in your tank? if you have dead spots in your tank with no water movement, you will surely have detritus build-ups there. you can use a turkey baster to blow the detritus off of the rock in the mean time.

I have a maxijet 400 and the skimmer's pump (maxijet 1200) for circulation. I had two maxijet 400's but I took one out once I started adding corals because it looked like to much current.

what are the dimensions on your tank? i have a feeling you will need more circulation than that in your tank. plus, if you only have one powerhead blowing in one direction, you dont have enough "churning" of the water to keep the rocks clean. sorry if i am not making sense... its late!! :)

So... do you need one powerhead going in one direction and another going in the other?
Did I understand that right?

well that would help eliminate dead spots... again, if you could list your tank dimensions, it would be easier to tell what you need.
