Trouble reducing ammonia

My QT tank has been set up for 2 weeks and unfortuatly i had to put my cow fish in premature because of ick. I'm having trouble lowering the ammonia level it's 20 gal and i just did over half water change and yes it did lower it but still not enough. should I continue to do more or wait another day to change it again?

try adding some amequel, does the qt have any biological filtration (IE sand, hand on filter, sponge filter (the best IMHO) if not GET SOME NOW! :D but a cowfish being very sensitive to water quility I'd greatly try to do something before he poisons himslef. :scared:

do not put sand in there the argonite absobs medication like copper which makes the medication not that effective do another large water change if you dont have the amquel

I do have a small hang on filter but again it is just not cycled yet did not have a choice just noticed ick on the cow and decided to put him in so not to infest my show tank so far so good no other fish have any ick. How much water should i change out another 50% or smaller amounts? And i have very thin layer of CC not even 1/4 inch just to cut down on reflection.
I almost forgot I have some ammo-lock which I think is the same thing.
