True and False

I have had a false perc for about three months, I just added a true perc this weekend. The false is the bigger of the two, and the both are getting along great. They actually joined up as soon as I put in the true. I also have a 8" LT ameneme, that I put in this weekend end as well. My question is will the two clowns mate, since they are different species? And how can I get them to see the ameneme? they both hang out on one side of the tank and the LT is on the other side. It's a 6' tank, so I don't even think they know its in there. Should I try to move the LT or just wait? I would really like to see the host the LT, but I know it does not always happen. I was just hoping someone could give me some ideas. thanks

Crossbreeding is entirely possible. If the only two clowns in a tank the two species may pair. If they do pair, that is your greatest obstacle to get past the pair bonding stage. Once they are pair bonded, if their needs are met they will spawn. You just don't hear much about hybrids because most people who are serious enough to want to breed clownfish are more interested in preserving those that are natrually occuring. Yes, it can be done and pair bonding in the hardest part. But NO FISH will spawn without having all of its needs met.

What are the needs? I have very good quality water. I feed them evryday, I know some people think thats to much. I have a LT anememe for them, and plenty of live rock. Is there anything else I need to give them? They have been hanging out togther ever since I put the true in this weekend, they even sleep by each other, but they still dont go near the LT. thanks for the feedback.

When I woke up today both of them were swimming all around the aneneme. They have not went in yet, but are getting really close. Looks like they are intrested but not sure what it is. Looks like their natrual instincts are starting to take over. I just hope it contiues.

An "LTA" could be several anemones, but none of which are a natural host for either of your clowns. That could be the problem.
The clowns need to feel comfortable, safe, and need to be fed to satitation at least 2-3 times per day...and need a filtering system that can deal with that waste load.
But before you get overly concerned with that, do some research on breeding clownfish. It sounds cool and everything, but each individual must decide if it is truly worth the effort and worry for something they decide is too much of a bother to attempt. (Although I wouldn't change what I do for the world.)

Thanks for the replie. I really dont care if they breed or not, I am just glad that they are getting along. I was hoping that they would host in the LTA, I did know that there was a chance they would not. I will give it a try for awhile, and if they dont, I my try to replace the LTA with a RBTA, but that will not be for awhile. I am still learning and having fun doing it.
