Truly a sad day at the LFS

I went today to one of the fish stores and was truly shocked. I have been here before but I guess not on a sunday sale day. Many fish were chucked into bags, half dead. People were picking them up and throwing them back into the tanks. I actually watched one guy scoop up a bunch then throw - by hand the ones he didn't want back in the tank. I suggested perhaps that was not the most effective way to catch a fish he wanted and how he would feel if that was done to the fish he wanted *shrug* was the response. On my way out of the store a guy had no less than 10 'bagged' fish in a basket... I asked him must have a big tank man to be able to take that kinda bioload increase. oh yea its big 29 gallons.... of course they sold them to him w/o a question. BTW if your wondering why I was in there is because as a gift i recieved a gift certificate for corals... so until I can find 2 more specimens good enough to go in my tank I will see it. Anyway thats just my 2 cents for the day....

Wow, that sounds awful and truly sad that those people care more about prices and deals than the actual animal that they "hope" to keep in their "big" tanks. I have seen a lot in this business but nothing that terrible. I would definitely boycott that store.

Yes as soon as my certificate is used I will not be going back. I also wont be going back on sundays... I know its going on but dont want to see it. Its a shame that its supported by people, as it is a busy store.

lol Golly. I work at a LFS in Indiana and we only temperature acclimate the fish. There is not one bit of dripping, and they are fine. Fish can take a lot more than you think. They lived in an ocean for heaven's sake.

How we treat our pets is important. The objective being to treat them well and let them thrive.
How we treat each other(humans) is also important. Surely Majic Carp does not mean what he says. His opinion could be expressed more effectively without the flaming.
Just my 2 cents.

Do you have a fish tank good sir? Well I imagine you do since you're on this board, does anything at all exist in said tank? We'll just be on the safe side and say yes. Well, you sir are an animal abuser, why don't you drive those little fishies to the ocean right now, captain hypocrite?

Can a moderator please do something about MagicCarp's cursing and wishing people would die? I do not wish to read such stuff on these "typically" nice boards. Everybody has their opinions. Sounds like zacfinchum is trying to ruffle a few feathers. Just ignore it and it will go away.

Yeah, seriously, there is no need for a war. People like zacfinchum you just need to ignore and they will get the message. We understand you are angry Magic_Carp but you don't have to get overly-raged about it either.
