Trumpet Coral Question

I just got a trumpet and wanted to know if its normal for the tenticles to be out all the time. Does this mean the trumpet is agitated? I never saw the stinging tenticles out on any other trumpet coral. Is this OK?

usually feeder tentacle come out when the coral tastes food in the water or at night. I would say try feeding it.

What do I feed it? Mysis? If thats what I feed it how do you get the Mysis to stick without getting blown out by the current?

i use frozen squid.... just put a little piece of it at there mouth.. the food will stick to the tenticles and theyll bring it in very quickly.

i dont know about Mysis.. ive never tried that but im guessing it should... and yes you have to feed each mouth as each mouth is a different individual.

mysis will work, but meaty foods such as crab, squid, shrimp, and krill work better. The key will be keeping your fish and inverts from stealing it as your coral eats. I have to cover mine to allow it to eat...

They will eat anything the fish do and primarily feed at night. Mine will keep the tentacles out 24/7 whenever it is at war with another coral, but otherwise they only extend the tentacles at night. Use a turkey baster and gently blow the food into the tentacles after your lights are out for awhile. If the food still gets blown away, turn some pumps off.

At war with another coral? OK, how do I know its fighting and why would it be. Its on top of a rock of zoos but the tenticles are not touching the zoos. Is that a problem?

i dont think it would fight with zoas.... theyre probably smelling food or are hungry... just try feeding them.

I don't spot feed any of my trumpets, but feed all my corls with cyclopeeze, phyto or rotifers every other day at night or early morning when the lights are out.

As long as they aren't touching it should be fine, if the tentacles are touching the zoanthids at any time then they could be fighting. My trumpet coral fought with my eagle eye zoanthids for quite awhile until I moved it.
