Its very neat looking, but I am not sure it will last long with stock lighting?

If you have the Deluxe NanoCube, you have at least 4 watts per gallon. If your calcium/ph/alk stay in line, I think your clam will be fine.

I know the lighting could be stronger, I thought I'd give it a try. My water specs. stay pretty good with weekly water changes. I was thinking of putting a light on the tank from the outside shinning thought the glass,but was told the glass would defuse the light. Any thoughts on that?

The lighting needs to be a lot stronger. The only thing I can tell you is invest in a MH light system, or rehome the clam, unfortunately. They need the strong lighting to survive. An outside light won't do anything, I don't believe its the right type of light. The Derasa is pretty hardy, but I don't think it would be able to do well under stock lighting. Sorry!! Also, I think that type of clam will outgrow your tank pretty quick. I believe Derasas get quite large, up to 20"...or maybe I have my clams mixed up.
