i just purchased a canon eos rebel xs 1000d. here's a pic in "full automatic". i think a tripod would have made it better, but i believe the colors are more true to life than the old camera.
i still can't get the blue tips on the stag in the center to show up.

I'm glad you didn't go with the 40D. Photography use to be one of my favourite hobbies.... now I'm so ticked I couldn't be bothered.
Sweet Mr. X.... nice pictures, nice tank, nice (albeit very cranky looking) cat.

I reviewed some photography websites, and others have had the same problem with the 40D as you have. but others had nothing but great things to say about it.
However, people had a number of problems with the XSI, also. Focusing and color saturation problems. We will put the camera through it's paces in the next few days. Other things besides the aquarium. But so far, so good.
I'm sorry for your loss in photography. It's been a hobby of mine for years, then the last few years I lost interest, too. But now, maybe I'll get back going.

Beautiful tank Mr X.I just started mine about 6 months ago and hope some day it looks half as nice.I know nothing happens fast in a reef tank but can you recommend any faster growing corals to add a little color to my 75 gal?
I have about 80 lbs of lr.The knowledge on this site is amazing. Thanks for any input.

to be perfectly honest, i don't want to recommend any "faster growing" corals. if you like sps, try a few digis.
if you like softies, grab some run-of-the-mill red and green shrooms, green star polyp, and xenia.....i cringe at telling you this!
my best advice is purchase nothing but awesome LPS, and feed them meaty foods regularly, and watch them grow. awesome creatures they are.

whatever you put in your tank will be hard to get out. the faster growing things will not only grow fast, but attach to things. take mushrooms and xenia for instance. they will attach to the rock, and even if you cut them off, tiny pieces of them will remain, and re-grow.
i'm just saying to choose what corals you add to the tank carefully.
i know that everyone wants a full tank as soon as they can introduce corals, myself included.
i did what alot of people do- put anything and everything in my tank. now i have xenia, and red mushrooms in plague proportions. i just had to kill off some green mushrooms because they are killing my pokerstar montipora.
