whatever you put in your tank will be hard to get out. the faster growing things will not only grow fast, but attach to things. take mushrooms and xenia for instance. they will attach to the rock, and even if you cut them off, tiny pieces of them will remain, and re-grow.
i'm just saying to choose what corals you add to the tank carefully.
i know that everyone wants a full tank as soon as they can introduce corals, myself included.
i did what alot of people do- put anything and everything in my tank. now i have xenia, and red mushrooms in plague proportions. i just had to kill off some green mushrooms because they are killing my pokerstar montipora.
+1. I went through the mushroom stage. Now I think they are only good for a full blown, dedicated mushroom tank unless you are able to control the growth. If any appear now they are quickly removed and discarded.
I say that but I noticed some red ones growing to the side the other day I haven't done anything about yet.
I am not saying mushrooms are a 'bad' coral at all. They do have a tendency to spread at a fast pace and can overwhelm the other tank inhabitants. Some do grow at a much slower pace, but others are just downright monsters. Hairies for example.
Mr X. Awesome pics. One day I will have to break down and get a decient camera myself.
