Trying to Toughen My Puffers

if i were you i would let them be, just feed them and keep your tank as healthy as possible if you refuse to get rid of some of them till you get your bigger tank.. and how big are you planning to upgrade it to? the only size ive seen you mention was a 46 gallon.. also as stated before they are more melow than you would think, why try and get them to be more aggressive? they can hold up their own with aggressive fish they do not need to be aggressive themselves, just able to cope with aggressive fish.. if you somehow make them more aggressive it will only cause more stress as them, since they will fight and they wont have a huge space to get away if needed.. this will stress them out so imho just leave them be if you are unwilling to return the big ones till you get your bigger tank...

Again, sry for the double post, but (other than the freeze dried) any problems with what
i feed them? Anything better?
No I would not say there is anything wrong with what you are giving them. You might try a few other things...Mine eat shrimp, scallops, and peas. They love peas...give it a try...it's pretty funny. I always pinch the skin of the pea, and squeeze it out. They always sift the outer skin off, and I just have to vacuum it up lol. I have tried other things like squid, silversides, mussels, formula one and two...they just wont even bite at it. I am about to order a bunch of snails, they like snails. Oh and clams as well.

Yes i understand the agressive factor and have corrected it but thank you. Im not sure of the size im gonna have 2 browse. Theres a good deal on a 100 gal at my lfs. Tank, stand, and flourescent lights, all new, for only $534. I might try saving for that...

start feedin live rosies .that would help

Well, i used to feed live guppies... but then i found out that feeder fish can cause puffers to get a fatty liver... my bros puffer died a couple weeks after he started eating rosies.

feeding freshwater feeders will cause fatty deposits that eventually will kill the SW fish.
Now have you seen a full grown porly puffer?
in SW the fish do not stop growing to the ank size I think this was mentioned before. as they run out of room ** AND THEY WILL QUICKLY** they will become stressed out that will lead to diseases and other problems and will reult in your livestock dying.
I know you want these fish but I am going to urge you to take them back to the store and get more suitable fish for your tank size.
next thing I am going to mention is there are people on this board with the title SHARK under their name including me,ophiura, and bang guy. We are the moderators of the board and we didnt just get offered the job because we posted to get a post count up. we were offered the positions for helping others and answering questions.
next thing is this is a freindly board stirring the waters the way you did on this thread is not a good thing to do here. we are here to help you and to answer your questions but just because you aska question doesnt mean you are going to get the answer you expected. no one here can or will tell you something that will hurt your fish or you so before you tell someone they are spamming you~ you might want to see who is the one giving the advise there is a search button just for that reason.
IMO

I understand what that ttle means, and i wasnt accusing her of doing that (as i tried to explain earlier). I was simply making a point about her comment. I was talking about the people that have been trying to give me a hard time on this forum. I respect the opinions of people, but they can express it in a much better fashion, as you have. However, the comment i made had nothing to do with ophiura. Im sorry for the confusion.
And also, (sorry for seeming a bit rude) you think im mad because people disagree with me? I fully expected people to disagree! Im mad because they have done their best to make my time here on the message boards an unpleasant one! They dont care about the health of my fish, they care about making as many possible jokes out of me as they can! And i want 2 thank those who disagreed in a much kinder fashion. Mostly the mods.

Once more, i apologize for the double posting. Michael, i want you to think about something. What is the third great rule in your signature? "Be kind&courteous to others" or something like that. Now, i want you to think hard about the responses to my first two threads (both of which have been closed)
"And to think, i was going to get rid of my sailfin in my 190 cuz he was too big. Heck, now ill get a whole school of them. Thanks, Puffer Guy!"
"I think ou should get a titan trigger and an eel"
"Get an alligator"
"I know you said puffers, but the queen angel gets along just fine with them. Maybe you should get that"
"Wal mart sells shark eggs right next to the betta fish"
"I wish i could have some of those fish" "You can;just get a 46 bow!"
Answer me this, Michael, has this rul been obeyed?

You need to get a much larger tank and worry more about your fish being calm and peacfull than toughening them up .
Also on just about any forum you go to you will encounter sarchasim . Especially when your posts seam outlandish . WE deal with a lot of trolls around her and to be honest when people post and they have a situation that most would find completely outlandish than the sarchasim is going to flow .

I think the lack of help stems from a number of things. First, demanding help or 'advise' is a ticket to no where. Second, I remember your first thread didn't start well, but it's amazing that you thought what you have was actually justifiable. Third, it seems like you know the answer, indeed when fish are stressed (such as from a lack of proper quarters), they tend not to eat, but you still just want to hear what you want to hear. "Well if you switch to a better diet your fish will be fine."
mod edit= statment was not needed so it was deleted.
I may misunderstand the point of this thread, and please correct if I'm wrong, but why do you want to 'toughen your puffers up?' You expressed interest in keeping triggers, so as I think a lot us see it as, "so if we help this guy, great, he's going to stuff his fish into a 46bow, which is still not remotely adequate, and then stuff in some more triggers?"

That is why the thread was closed we will not do alot of editing in a thread if we have to it is just closed. we dont have the time to edit and change things so they are acceptable so when there are a lot of things in a thread the pad locs come out.

dude, how can you feed your fish all this food in a 28g tank. Puffers are messy eaters and not all the food gets eaten up which causes problems, especially in a tank your size. Your nitrates must be through the roof, that's if your bio filter can keep up with the load. Those poor fish don't stand a chance. Please, at the very least find your porky a better home for the time being.

While you are right, puffers are generally messy eaters, any mess my porc leaves my leopard gladly eats all of it up. And, i do have extra filtration (a 30 and 10 bio are running on it). But thanks anyways.

My point was that you seemed to be excusing their behavior by saying that i was being mad just because they didnt give the answer i expected. I expected them to disagree. I did not expect them to mock me constantly, and not for a second give any real advice (unless you count telling me to get an alligator advice).
