in my humblest of opinions. you'd rather it drop to the sump/skimmer then move over to the fuge section, you don't want to skim your fuge water and risk losing harming most of your microfauna that would be returning to the tank, you know?

well i guess it goes both ways cuz someone else said to do it fuge first so i can use all the detritus and stuff for copepods b4 the skimmer takes em out

here is mine, I did with a 20 Long I had to remove the angle piece so my skimmer would fit right.
Skimmer,heaters,overflow/fuge/return pump
