just weighing my options. i am leaning twards tunzes, but i have been considering multiple closed loops on my new 210. instead of the tunzes i was thinking 3 seperate cl each run by a mag 24, one every 2 ft...i can accomlish thesame amount of flow for about the same cost ( maybe a little more with the closed loops) but i wont have to see 2 pices of equipment in my tank.. anyway whats all you opinions?

The Tunzes are my favorite flow option. Earlier this week, I put both of my 6000s in the 65. The temptation to not put these in the tank finally got to me! :D :D :D Anyways, I'm only running one of the two right now and have it set to pulse between 30% and 70%. The flow is incredible, and the flexibilty when I experimented with using both on the multicontroller is very nice to have. I can't wait to let them both rip in the 150!
Surprisingly, I don't find them as ugly as the MJ 1200's they replaced. Granted they are twice as big, but being one basic shape rather than having strainers and flow dispersing fans attached makes them look less "equipmenty" if that makes sense at all. Though the magnet holders and deco rocks could be good solutions for hiding the streams.
Just curious, if you go CL, why 3 Mag 24s? Why not a high-flow pump plumbed to a manifold that would spread flow to the same outlets as the 3 Mags would? A single, high-flow Ampmaster, Sequence, or GRI pump could provide as much flow as the 3 Mags, run much more efficiently, not transfer heat to the water, and not allow you to worry about 3 Mags running externally and leaking.

i should add i am by no means set on mags, i was just makeing an example. basically what i am pondering is having a masive closed loop pumping 6000 or so gph through the tank, rather than using the tunzes, but like i said i am leaning twards the tunze's.... im still very much in the planning stages.

So far in my 6 months of SW reef experience I'm not impressed with Mags, I cleaned them 2-3 times in the 6 months and the impeller still seized on my mag9.5 return pump. I ordered a eheim replacent pump, since then I have fixed the mag but took several hours of cleaning. If you look at the power requirements you'll see the Tunze's or Seio's take much less energy to run as opposed to the mags. The mags are very cheap but you'll have to purchase Seaswirls or something similar to return the water. I'd go with Tunze especially on a large tank like that.
