Tunze Skimmers

Hs anyone used these? I am trying to see if they are worth the money on in-sump operations...
It sounds pretty good; but more importantly it is small enough to fit in the space I have available and still process tanks even larger than mine...

Most of the other well-reviewed skimmers just won't fit due to size problems, so... Anyone know much about the Tunze ones?

I suspect that you are finding the same that I found when trying to get information on other Tunze products - because they are often higher priced than other products fewer will make the investment. I don't think that it is any indication of whether or not they are higher quality.
I don't have many Tunze products yet, but in each case that I do they are far superior in quality. I have several more on order that I am waiting for, but have no experience with their skimmers.

OK good to know then, thanks. I know the price is high, but it is the only skimmer I have found so far that is rated at double my Tank size, and is short enough to fit what I need for the application... That's why I am likely going to have to go with it.
At 14 inches tall; I can raise it off the floor of the sump 5 inches and still have almost 10 inches above it to work in
Anything else I look at would have to sit on the floor of the sump, thereby limiting the amount of water I can add with a sump set up...
thanks for the info on them, good to know at least!

My tank is a 40 gallon corner bowfront tank (glass). the sides are 24 inches square, and I am unsure of the front, but it is about 36 inches I think, around the bow...
The corner stand the tank goes on has an enclosed area for the sump in the center (the sides of it are open shelves) that is really rough in space... It is 10 wide by 20 deep once the unusual areas are taken into account (11.5 wide total, but the outside walls "pinch" the space at 15 inches back from the door...) and it is 27 inches tall from floor to ceiling.
Here is a shot of the Tank and stand, to hopefully illustrate what I am describing:

I am trying to maximize the added water volume in the sump by keeping everything high, hopefully close to 15 inches deep using a custom 10X20X17 acrylic sump.
Any advice or suggestions are appreciated
as I have not actually purchased any of the items yet, just making plans.

Yes, I just edited my post above with the info, sorry

I will be using a sump/fuge as well as a HOB fuge (Dual fuges for pods growth, as I will eventually be getting a Mandarin)
Sump total space is 10X20X17, I haven't calculated exactly what the Sump area and fuge area will be, as I am trying to determine what Skimmer I will use (and therefore what the footprint will be  )
As I said, any advice or suggestions are welcome

Honestly your money would be better spent on an ASM....G1 or mini would work just as well and save you cash....

I would be fine using a G1 ( a mini just cuts it too close for me, I don't want to overload and have to replace it with a more powerful one later...) but I cannot find anything anywhere on its operating depth. Also, its footprint is 8.5 X 10 which cuts it reeeaaally close in my less than 10 inch ******** space
I could make it fit certainly, but I am afraid I would have to sacrifice water depth to do it, and it is only saving me $25 as far as I can tell??
My biggest problem you see, is I have no LSF within 50 miles of me
so I can't go look at any of these/discuss them etc... The closest shop to me is a Petsmart, and they have 1 skimmer I have never heard of... So all of this is being done online; mainly through this site :joy:
thanks again!

Have you ever made the trip up to Lancaster???? Might be worth the drive for alittle savings IMO........The skimmers can be adjusted pump mounting a bit to make things work.......Tunze just overpriced IMO.....Don't get me wrong I love some of their products, but that's not a piece I'd buy from them at that price......Their nano streams and ATO are a different story IMO.
